GMOs and Organics
There are some aspects of agriculture that do not translate over aquaculture. In the United States, one of those is organic labeled products. Currently there is no organic certification for aquaculture products. However, the USDA is in the process as of 2016 of developing an organic production standards for aquaculture products.

Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are fairly common in the agriculture industry, mostly produce such as corn, canola, beets, and squash. In the aquaculture industry, there is only one FDA approved GMO species. This species is salmon farmed by AquaBounty and grown using 25% less feed than traditionally farmed salmon thanks to improved growth genes. This U.S. based company is promoting "sustainability, science-based aquaculture, and improvements in human health."
