Accountability

As a young and developing commercial industry, aquaculture must have accountability. Governing bodies and organizations hold aquaculture to the highest environmental and commercial standards. This has caused a steep but vital learning curve in the industry. When commercial production began, many mistakes were made but regulations and certification bodies have been established to to ensure a safe, high quality product reaches the consumer.

Improved technology and research has increased both animal health and the health benefits for consumers. Certification schemes ensure top quality assurance measures are taken from fish feed to the fish on your dinner plate, along with the consistent advancement of environmentally sustainable practices and economic support of farmers. Revised regulations and audits control what product is imported into the United States as well as the species which can be grown in our waters.

Above all else, there are people looking out for consumer safety in this ever evolving and advancing industry.
